Student Mentor Team

Services

Mentors, who hold professional staff positions at UCSB, will reach out to students through monthly electronic newsletters that feature services, events, and advice relevant to class level. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions or seek advice, via email, and mentors will provide prompt responses and referrals. Mentors will also be available for one-on-one appointments to coach students in finding solutions, making referrals as appropriate.

Departments should use the SMT for:

  • Referring students who are having difficulties that are not of a serious psychological nature. (For students with serious psychological problems, contact Burt Romotsky at Student Health, x3380). Students can write or call their mentors at the extensions and addresses listed above.

  • Submitting information about a university-sponsored event to be included in the electronic newsletters. Newsletters are sent to students on the first of each month. Please visit the website for information about submission criteria.
