Upward Bound

The Asian American Faculty & Staff Association was formally established in March of 1990. The stated purpose of AAFSA is to promote and enhance the well-being of Asian American faculty, academic professionals, career and casual staff members through active representation and participation in the affairs of the University of California at Santa Barbara and the community at large. AAFSA believes strongly that active participation by faculty and staff is essential in developing and strengthening a diversified campus community at UCSB. Additionally, AAFSA’s mission is to develop and sustain a sense of community among the Asian American faculty, staff, and students-this of course is tied to AAFSA’s primary purpose stated above. Through meeting, receptions, and the annual Spring Banquet, and other social events, AAFSA has enhanced the Asian American community at UCSB and has become recognized as a responsible voice for this community.
