Students Empowering Students
EOP is proud of its Peer Program Model, as it was the first program of it’s kind at UCSB. Our peer advisors go through intensive training to assist and empower first year students to make an academically and socially successful transition from high school or another college to University life. EOP Peer Advisors are an ethnically and culturally diverse group of dynamic student leaders from various class levels, academic interests and career goals. They are involved with campus life, student organizations and other support services.
For freshman and transfer students, a “Success Team” is assigned to each on and off-campus residence hall as well as by their assigned caseload of student’s last name. This team is comprised of an EOP Counselor and Peer Advisor. Each team holds office hours and does programming on campus, as well as in the residence halls. Our peer advisors are assigned to incoming students with whom they maintain personal contact, by visiting your hall, e-mailing or calling you on a regular basis throughout the academic year in order to listen and share important information. EOP Students can make appointments with the counselor assigned to them or see an available counselor on a walk-in basis.
