The Summer Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP) is a two-week intensive academic summer bridge for students who wish to seriously prepare for academic honors and success at the University. The STEP program introduces new freshmen students to life and learning at UCSB, and provides an opportunity to receive a nurturing transition prior to 18,000 other students returning to campus in the Fall. Students take courses in mathematics, writing and affective skills that introduce critical thinking and the independent thinking necessary for scholastic honors at the university level. Faculty hold evening study sessions to promote advanced learning. Evening programs and workshops provide opportunities to excel in computer software and Internet technologies.
