Unlike the capitalized term Diaspora, referring to the dispersion of Jews, the term
diaspora (pronounced di-eh-‘spOr-ah) refers to people or an ethnic population
forced or induced to leave their traditional ethnic homeland; in this case, the
people of Africa.
