AdCRC Student Internship
 

Student Internship The Educational Opportunity Program sponsors diverse cultural programming for the entire campus community through all of its Cultural Resource Centers (CRCs). EOP provides cultural programs that facilitate interaction/collaboration between students of all cultural/ethnic backgrounds allowing them to gain an understanding of, and appreciation for, similarities and differences in each other and themselves. The CRCs help create an environment that celebrates and promotes the history, contributions, intellectual heritage, education and growth of students.

Each year the AdCRC has paid internship opportunities available. The number of paid internship positions may vary depending on the current departmental budget and work study eligibility.

Salary
1st Year Intern: $8.25/hr.

Returning Intern: $8.50/hr.

Basic Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student must maintain a 2.0 quarterly grade point average throughout the term of employment. If academic standing falls below the minimum, employment can be terminated.

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing and should complete 12-units per quarter or 32 units by the end of each academic year enrolled at the university.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends.

  • Completion of all training and staff in-services are mandatory for maintaining employment.

  • Must be self-motivated in a team-oriented environment and available to work a minimum of 10 hours and a maximum of 15 hours per week with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills and able to work well with others under pressure.

  • Computer literate with database and/or desktop publishing skills (Word, Access, Publisher, PhotoShop, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet Explore, Adobe, etc.).

  • Knowledge of campus policies and procedures with regards to student clubs and organizations.

  • Basic information research skills (library or Internet).

  • Serve in a paraprofessional capacity to the Cultural Resource Center (CRC) coordinator in developing and implementing cultural programming and related duties.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Serve as a cultural center liaison to student organizations and academic departments.

  • Assist in creating a culturally welcoming community for students of color.

  • Help to create a campus awareness of diversity issues and concerns.

  • Assist in promoting awareness and understanding of the importance that culture plays in academic success.

  • Serve as primary operational office staff for the CRC in which you were hired.

  • Ability to relate and build rapport with individuals within your center’s respective cultural communities at UCSB and at-large.
