- To enchance networking within and across the student organizations.
- To enhance networking within and across the student organizations.
- To enhance
networking between student organizations and the different cultural and academic
departments/ programs on campus and off campus.
- To connect students with external
resources, agencies, and educational institutions which specialize in meeting the
needs of a particular cultural population.
- To create a central meeting ground
for cultural events in the African diasporic campus and off-campus communities.
- To serve as one resource location for cultural artifacts that can benefit students
of these communities, as well as all individuals who wish to learn more about African
and African American culture.
- To help to create a sense of unity (spatially,
emotionally, spiritually, culturally) within the UCSB African diasporic communities.
- To increase the attraction of UCSB as a culturally welcoming community to incoming
freshmen and recruits who culturally identify with the African diaspora, as well
as supporting the retention of these students at UCSB.
- To increase the awareness
of current diversity issues in the UCSB campus community on issues facing students
of the African diaspora.
- To enhance the interaction between the counselors of
the Educational Opportunity Program and its constituent student groups.
- To create
a culture of academic excellence, cultural awareness and personal development in
the communities of the African diaspora.
