PRE-COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES$5,000 Scholarship and All Expenses Paid Trip to Washington, D.C.The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) will be held in Washington, D.C. from March 4-11, 2006. Two students from each state, the District of Columbiaand the Department of Defense Education Activity will be selected as delegates. Any high school junior or senior is eligible for the program provided he or she is currently serving in an elected capacity in either student government or civic or educational offices during the 2005/2006 school year. Each student who participates will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and an all expenses paid stay in Washington, D.C. (March 4-11, 2006). Accenture is pleased to announce that, through a partnership agreement with the American Indian Graduate Center, it is accepting applications for the Accenture American Indian Scholarship Fund. These scholarships were announced in conjunction with Accenture’s role as supporter and management consulting and information technology services advisor to the Smithsonian’s new National Museum of the American Indian. The Accenture scholarships meet a vital need for American Indian and Alaska Native students seeking higher education. The scholarship fund will select high achieving, degree seeking American Indian students entering their first year of an undergraduate or graduate level at a U.S. accredited college or university. Candidates will be chosen based on academic excellence, demonstrated leadership ability and a commitment to American Indian community. In addition to the scholarship funding, all scholarship recipients seeking technology or business degrees at the first year graduate or undergraduate level will be eligible to apply for summer internships with Accenture. Through this scholarship fund, we hope to encourage and support tomorrow’s American Indian leaders in technology and business, said Kedrick Adkins, Accenture’s Global Chief Diversity Officer. FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIESFellowship AnnouncementPenn State University is offering graduate fellowships to American Indian and Alaska Native students interested in becoming school principals. The three-year project will include two years on the campus of Penn State University, completing the requirements for a master's degree in educational leadership with certification as principal followed by a year of induction services in the field.The fellowships are affiliated with Penn State's nationally recognized American Indian Leadership Program (AILP). The program is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The program is co-directed by Dr. John Tippeconnic and Dr. Susan Faircloth Applications are now being accepted for the 2005 summer semester.(Application guidelines are attached). The fellowships include a monthly stipend of $1,775 per month, dependency support, tuition, textbooks and relocation allowances.
