Key Programs and Services
The UCSB Financial Aid Office provides services to help eligible students and their parents receive the assistance necessary to minimize the financial obstacles in obtaining a degree from UCSB.

For the majority of students at the University of California, Santa Barbara, a college education would not be affordable without the financial assistance and support from the Financial Aid Office. As college costs continue to increase faster than the ability of many families to afford these costs, more and more families rely on financial aid to help. Although students and their parents are expected to make the maximum effort to cover college expenses, many financial aid programs and services are available to assist eligible students.

The Financial Aid Office administers the following student aid programs: federal Pell Grant, federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, federal Perkins Loan, federal Work Study, federal Direct Loan, Cal Grant A, Cal Grant B, Cal Grant T, University grants, University scholarships, and Vocational Rehabilitation.

The Financial Aid Office also provides the following services: Short Term Emergency Loans, Teaching Assistantship (TA) Loans, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) fee waivers, Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) fee offsets, appointments with Financial Aid Advisors, and aid coordination with the following programs: Freshman Summer Start, Intercampus Visitor, Consortium Agreements, Education Abroad, Teacher Education, and UC in DC.
