The Freshman Orientation sessions are completed for Summer 2008.
See Alternatives to Summer Orientation
on this website for information about class registration, academic advising, and
our fall program for freshmen who missed Summer Orientation.
Reserve Your Space in a Freshman Orientation Session
Please read the information on this website about Freshman Orientation (and Parent
Orientation) before completing your online Reservation Form. See the description
of the Program Options from which you can choose.
It is especially important that you have read and understood the policies outlined
below on this page regarding Program Fees, Changes and Cancellations. Your Statement
of Intent to Register (SIR) must be received by the UCSB Admissions Office before
you can access the online Orientation Reservation Form.
To complete the Reservation Form you will need:
- Your four session date choices in order of preference
- Your program option
- The names of your parents who want to attend Orientation and their program option(s)
Sign up for an Orientation session by submitting the online Reservation Form which
is available by clicking on the link below. On the form, choose four session dates
in order of preference. Submit your form promptly! Space in each Orientation session
is limited and session assignments are made based upon the order in which forms
are received. Each Orientation session provides the same in-depth academic advising
and fair access to a variety of courses for freshmen.
Confirmation of Session Date
After submitting your online Reservation Form, a confirmation
postcard will be mailed to you indicating your assigned session date based on your
four preferences. Allow approximately 7 days after submitting the online form for
confirmation by mail. If you have not received your confirmation postcard within
7 days, please call us to find out your assigned session date. You are not confirmed
for Orientation until you receive notification of your assigned session date.
Please
be sure to see Preparing for Summer Orientation and
Parking & Directions to UCSB
on this website for directions, parking and check-in information, what to bring,
and further details about preparing for your arrival.

Program Fees
Program fees for all participants will be billed in the fall on the student's UCSB
BARC Billing Statement. Students are required to pay in full the amount of the
fees for all participants, including parents and guests, who have registered for
UCSB Orientation on their Reservation Form. Fee payment deadlines will
be noted on the statement. Fees are assessed per person and can vary depending upon
program option. Please see the Program Options section of this website for a description of the various options.
If you have an annual family income of $35,000 or less, you may qualify to apply
for a fee reduction. See the information below on how to apply for a student program
fee reduction.
Changes and Cancellations
Space in Orientation is limited and we would like to accommodate as many new students
and their parents as possible. Therefore, it is important that you notify us as
soon as possible if you or your parents need to change or cancel your reservation.
Please select your dates carefully. Any change to your reservation
is subject to availability and must be made at least one week in advance of your
session date. There is a $25 service charge per change or cancellation. Services
charges will be billed in addition to program fees on the student's UCSB BARC Billing
Statement in the fall.
Changes and cancellations cannot be made online. Please call Orientation Reservations
at 805-893-2197 if you need assistance.
Fee Reductions
A limited number of fee reductions are available to eligible students from families
with annual incomes of $35,000 or less. These are allocated based on need and in
the order we receive applications until funds are depleted. To apply, complete and mail the
Application for a Fee Reduction by clicking on the link below. If approved, your
Orientation fee will be reduced by $75.00 and you will be billed for the remainder
of your fee in the fall. Fee reductions are for students only. Payment for parents must be made in full when you are billed in the fall.
Please note: The Application for a Fee Reduction must be sent in
by mail. You must also submit the online Reservation Form available from the link
