You are strongly encouraged to attend Summer Orientation. Orientation is not mandatory, but it gives you an important head-start in preparing for your college career. If you are unable to attend, most of what you miss at Orientation can be done on your own with a little extra initiative.

Please read the information on Alternatives to Orientation and use the following resources to help you choose and register for your classes:

• GOLD - Gaucho On-Line Data is the online system where students can access their student records, search for class availability, and register for classes.
• The UCSB General Catalog and the Schedule of Classes are available online.
• Students in the College of Letters and Science can also refer to LASAR - Letters and Science Academic Requirements.
• My UCSB gives students quick and easy access to all student-related services.
• The Kiosk is the UCSB Student Handbook.
• For Transfer students only: Fall 2009 Upper Division Courses No Prerequisites
