Academic Advising
Concerning General Education requirements, please note:
- If you are transferring from a California community college,
consult your community college counselor now to find out whether you have
completed the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC).
If you will have fully completed all IGETC requirements prior to your first
quarter at UCSB, you must have certification sent to the UCSB Admissions
Office as soon as possible.
- If you are a transfer from another University of California campus
and you have fulfilled all of the breadth/general education requirements at
that campus, you must have a letter of reciprocity sent from your current
campus to the UCSB Admissions Office.
- If you do not qualify for IGETC or UC reciprocity,
please look over the “Guidelines for New Transfer Students” that you received
from the Office of Admissions before coming to Orientation to assess
your previous college work.
