make the most of your departmental advising sessions, please bring
the following:
- You MUST bring copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities you've
attended; unofficial copies of transcripts are acceptable

- Title/author of math textbooks used in all mathematics courses completed if you want to take math in the fall
If you have
met UCSB course prerequisites as listed in the 2008-2009 UCSB
General Catalog, you must contact the department that offers
the course prior to Orientation, e.g., if Math 3A is a prerequisite
to a course you want to enroll in, you need to contact the Math
Department. Bring unofficial copies of all transcripts to Orientation
to show proof of prerequisite satisfaction in order to register for
further classes in these subjects. Call 805-893-8000 for department
phone numbers.
Concerning General Education requirements, please note:
- If you are transferring from a California community college, consult
your counselor now to find out whether you have completed the Intersegmental
General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC). If you will have fully
completed all IGETC requirements prior to your first quarter at UCSB,
you must have certification sent to the UCSB Admissions Office as soon as possible.
- If you are a transfer from another University of California campus and you have fulfilled all of the breadth/general education requirements at that campus, you must have a letter of reciprocity sent from your current campus to the UCSB Admissions Office.
- If you do not qualify for IGETC or UC reciprocity,
please look over the “Guidelines for
New Transfer Students” that you received from the Office
of Admissions before coming to Orientation to assess
your previous college work.

Placement exams
in math and foreign language are not offered during Transfer Orientation.
These exams are offered at the start of each academic quarter. The Calculus
