Anti-Bias Program This award recognizes the registered campus organization whose educational or social program promoted community harmony and the celebration of diversity, or addressed issues of bias in our community. The program awarded will be creative in content or delivery, and unlike any other program offered during the year. Community Service/Humanitarian Recognizes the outstanding registered campus organization that provides public service to benefit the disadvantaged, works remedy social problems, improves the quality of life for members of local and/or global community, and/or responds to an immediate need or a long-term goal by a community service effort. Group Achievement This award recognizes an informally organized group of students, committees, task forces, A.S. organizations and/or registered campus organizations that has contributed in a meaningful way to furthering the quality of the student experience through a series of efforts or activities or one notable event. This award celebrates the contribution to the community as well as the collaborative spirit of the informal alliance. Late Nite Social Programming Recognizes the registered campus organization whose social, recreational, or entertainment event or activity has exemplified the most effective and well-organized alternative to the Isla Vista party scene and/or promoted safe and responsible social interaction and behavior on or around the campus. Eligible organizations must have received funding from the After Dark Late Nite Social Programming Fund$ program during the academic year. Most Creative Program This award recognizes the registered campus organization whose individual educational, recreational or social program has illustrated innovative techniques and concepts to benefit members of UCSB and/or the local community. The program will be creative in content or delivery, and unlike any other program offered during the year. Progressive Use of Technology This award recognizes the registered campus organization(s) that has done the most to advance its mission, goals, or purpose through the use of technology, has used technology to more effectively impact the daily lives of UCSB students, or has demonstrated responsible use of technology on campus in such a way that encourages others to follow the example. Student-Initiated Outreach Program This award recognizes a registered campus organization(s) whose members have taken it upon themselves to share the university’s responsibility in reaching out to talented, intelligent students for whom access to higher education may otherwise be limited, and who have assisted young people to overcome some of the perceived barriers in gaining admission to a university. Eligible groups must have received a Student-Initiated Outreach Program (SIOP) Grant Award during the academic year. Student Organization of the Year This award recognizes the registered campus organization(s) that continues to demonstrate overall, well-rounded success through multiple avenues, such as a diversity of programs, increased member participation, leadership development, and other notable achievements that contribute to the campus community over the academic year. Most-Improved Student Organization Recognizes the registered campus organization that has demonstrated the most significant overall improvement since the previous academic year. The organization will have flourished after having overcome issues within the organization and/or increased membership or community interest dramatically. Residential Programming Recognizes an outstanding Residential Life, Apartment Living, Residence Hall Association (RHA), or privately-owned residence hall entity that has contributed in a meaningful way to student development through a series of efforts or activities or one notable event. Eligible groups are associated with University-owned housing or a privately-owned residence hall (e.g., Fontainebleu or Tropicana Gardens). Era Achievement Award - Advisor/Faculty/Staff This award will honor an advisor who has at least three years of experience as a student organization advisor and who takes great strides to help the organization’s leaders. Nominees should be advisors who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to a registered campus organization by working closely with the officers, staying well informed of the organization’s progress, providing training opportunities, and serving as a resource for the organization. Staff members of the Office of Student Life are not eligible. Faculty Involvement This award will be presented to a faculty member whose work with a registered campus organization helps bridge the gap between learning inside and outside of the classroom. Nominees should be faculty who exemplify a passion for helping students learn and grow and who support the participation and development of students in co-curricular activities and in leadership roles. Leslie Griffin Lawson Outstanding Leadership This award recognizes the president/chairperson who has demonstrated an extraordinary personal commitment to his/her organization and has thus enabled the group to excel in fulfilling its mission and goals. This person’s efforts will have positively affected the organization in significant ways. Outstanding Organization Advisor This award will recognize the organization advisor who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to a registered campus organization by working closely with the officers, staying well informed of the organization’s progress, providing training opportunities, and serving as a resource for the organization. Staff members of the Office of Student Life are not eligible. Individual Student Awards for Co-Curricular Activity This award will recognize those students who contribute to the quality of campus life through their participation in co-curricular activities. Awards will be given to deserving students in each class level based on their contributions during the present academic year. Transfer students who arrived Summer or Fall 2008 should be recognized as New Transfers. Cumulative contributions are considered only when evaluating graduating seniors.
