Police

The UCSB Police Department is a full service police organization open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to ensure the safety of the UCSB community. The police department has a staff of over 100, including 33 police officers and 70 student Community Service Organization (CSO) officers. UCSB police officers have statewide jurisdiction and are trained under state guidelines. Your student can contact the police by dialing 9-911 from campus phones or 911 from any other phone.

UCSB Police Officers, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office Deputies, and California Highway Patrol Officers work collaboratively to serve the Isla Vista community.

  • All red phones on campus are emergency phones and are connected directly to the UCSB Police Department.

UCSB Paramedics, a unit of the UCSB Police Department, are trained to provide advanced life support services. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year and serve students on campus and in Isla Vista. The Paramedic Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance is fully-equipped and provides transportation to Student Health or any local hospital.
