The Division of Student Affairs works diligently to respond to the needs of all students at UC Santa Barbara. In conducting regular environmental scans of student needs, areas do emerge that are unique to a smaller group of students within the larger pool of UCSB students overall. When populations or issues emerge, where a group-specific campus-wide response makes best sense, the Division of Student Affairs activates a resource team.
Resource Teams aim to understand and address the unique needs and experiences of the designated group of students. They make decisions to impact positive change pertaining to student persistence, retention, and graduation, campus processes, and relevant state, federal or campus policies.
Resource Teams are collaborative in nature. Their membership crosses department and division lines to provide seamless service and advocacy for a designated student population. The resource teams work collectively as a group and also respectively within the scope of their departments to provide a holistic campus response.
With increased assessment, awareness and understanding, the resource team responds collaboratively to meet the needs of a designated group of students. It harnesses its collective energy and provides both relevant student services and awareness training and education to the campus community.
