The Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity offers a safe,Flag supportive, and welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, genderqueer, intersex, and ally members of the UCSB community. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to stop by the Rainbow Lounge to watch a video, study, or read a magazine. The David Bohnett CyberCenter is housed here, providing internet access with a printer and scanner. The Resource Center also offers a lending library of educational books and videos on various topics and sponsors a variety of cultural and educational events throughout the year.
The Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity (RCSGD) student staff and career staff work collectively to provide resources for and support self-identified Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Genderqueer, Gender Non-Conforming, Queer, Questioning, Two-Spirit, Same Gender Loving, Downe individuals and communities, as well as People with Intersex Conditions. We aim to work collectively to create and implement programming, design and distribute publicity, outreach to communities, collaborate with other campus groups, provide resources and advocate for safe and inclusive spaces.
We approach our work from a social justice framework which includes acknowledging & addressing intersecting & interactive layers of oppressions (i.e. homophobia, heterosexism, transphobia, biphobia, racism, classism, sexism, ableism, monoracism, etc.) as well as acknowledging and addressing privileges and entitlement.
