Preventing Sexual Harassment

UCSB's Online Training Course
IN-PERSON TRAINING
The campus sexual harassment prevention education (SHPE) coordinator provides in-person sessions for students, staff, faculty, and community groups. If you are interested in booking a training session for your department or student group, email carol.sauceda@sa.ucsb.edu.

ON-LINE TRAINING
UCSB provides several different options for on-line Sexual Harassment Prevention education.

Supervisor and faculty
Supervisory staff and faculty are required by law to take two hours of sexual harassment prevention training every other year. To get a personal link to the on-line training, please contact the person in your department who is responsible for inputting data into the PPS system to make sure you are properly coded either as a supervisor/faculty or with a special training code. Within a few weeks after the information is in the PPS system, you can expect an e-mail from the Office of the President with your personalized link to the on-line training. For more information about state laws for faculty and supervisor training, please visit http://shpe.sa.ucsb.edu If you have any questions, contact Carol Sauceda at carol.sauceda@sa.ucsb.edu or call x3442.

Teaching assistants
Because, teaching assistants are mandated reporters of sexual harassment complaints, it is important for them to be trained in sexual harassment prevention. TAs can take the on-line training at (http://apps.sa.ucsb.edu/tasexualharassment/) or contact the Director of Sexual Harassment Prevention and Diversity Education, Carol Sauceda at carol.sauceda@sa.ucsb.edu for in-person training or call ext. 3442.

Non-supervisory staff and students
While no law requires non-supervisory staff and students to train in sexual harassment prevention, it is a good idea for everyone to know what sexual harassment is, how to prevent it, and what the procedures are for reporting a complaint on campus. Until we have a separate on-line training for non-supervisory staff and students, we suggest you visit another university’s training site, such as California State University at http://www.calstate.edu/gc/AntiSexualHarassmentTraining/sh-page1.shtml There is also an option to print a Certificate of Completion for your records. If you would like to schedule a training session for your department or student group, please contact Carol Sauceda, the Director of Sexual Harassment Prevention and Diversity Education at carol.sauceda@sa.ucsb.edu or call x3442.

Greeks
The Greek community has its own special sexual harassment prevention training. For access to this training, contact carol.sauceda@sa.ucsb.edu.
