The Rape Prevention Education Program is here to help you! Our services aim to maintain
a positive community within UCSB’s Residence Halls. We provide advocacy and education
on sexual assault, abusive relationships and stalking.
Advocacy:
RPEP exists to help in a number of ways. We offer the following services:
- Crisis Counseling
- Help with decisions on reporting to law enforcement
- Answers to questions about medical, legal, and campus judicial procedures
- Help with academic and housing problems
- Referrals to long-term counseling and other campus & community resources.
- Support groups for survivors of adult sexual assault
- Referrals for other types of support groups
The incidents may have occurred recently or in the past. All these services are
free and confidential and available to people of all genders and sexualities.
Education:
RPEP offers trainings, lectures and programs conducted by the professional staff
and peer educators.
- We talk about the laws and statistics
- We challenge myths that blame the victim
- We explain the patterns observed in relationship violence and how to help friends
caught in those patterns
- We suggest ways to work against a culture that allows sexual violence to happen
- We teach self defense workshops
We speak to about 20,000 members of the UCSB community every year. The basic educational
and self-defense programs are geared toward undergraduates. We also offer training
for professional and student staff.
