“I’m not a feminist, but….” This is the cry often heard from the current generation of young adults. It is usually followed with a very feminist statement:

But I believe that women should have receive equal pay for equal work

But I believe that women are not inferior humans.

But I believe that women should have control over their reproductive systems.

Common Myths about Feminists

  1. Only women are feminists.
    1. Many women and MEN consider themselves to be feminists.
  2. All feminists are lesbians.
    1. No. Straight women, bisexuals, straight men, gay men, lesbian women – there is a variety of people from different walks of life that consider themselves to be a feminist.
  3. Feminists hate men.
    1. No, another myth
  4. You have to be politically active to be a feminist.
    1. You can be a feminist if you believe that women deserve to be equal to men. Some feminists are politically active and others aren’t.
