Transforming Our Culture Education

Education is provided by staff and the students of Students Stopping Rape and Men Against Rape. These programs and campaigns serve to educate the campus community about outdated culturalnorms that contribute to inequality and violence. Breaking the silence about sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking helps topromote a campus culture of respect and equity.

• We talk about the laws, definitions, statistics, and trends.
• We counter the myths in our culture that blame the victim instead of the perpetrator.
• We explain the patterns observed in relationship violence and how to help friends caught in those patterns.
• We suggest ways to stay safer and ways to work against a culture that allows this violence to happen.
• We teach self-defense.
• We have books, informational flyers, DVDs, and knowledgeable staff to answer questions.
