The Division of Student Affairs strives to support every student's success through a wide range of educational programs, resources, and services critical to student enrollment, persistence, and graduation. Students are encouraged to become familiar with all Student Affairs units early in their UCSB experience. In order to best serve you this quarter, Student Affairs departments are providing a variety of in-person and virtual services — we've listed the best way to get in touch with each of our departments below.

Shoreline (Web & App)

Shoreline (shoreline.ucsb.edu) is UC Santa Barbara's student engagement platform. The app and homepage include links to campus resources, campus news, and community events. You can join and engage with more than 500+ campus organizations and departments.

Guide to Student Affairs Departments

Listed below are the the departments and programs that comprise UCSB Student Affairs organized by function. For reporting relationships among the units, refer to the organization chart.

STUDENT ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES

Academic Initiatives strives to better integrate campus departments and faculty with the work of the Division of Student Affairs to create a bridge between academics and student support services.

Office of Black Student Development (OBSD) advances, in response to a strong culture of Black student activism, the experiences of all Black students, advocates for their needs, and fosters their personal and academic achievement through graduation and beyond.

Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) provides tutoring, workshops, and services that help students understand course concepts, engage deeply in the learning process, and become independent thinkers and lifelong learners.

Disabled Students Program (DSP) facilitates full participation and equal access to all educational activities and classes at UCSB for students with temporary and permanent disabilities.

Early Childhood Care and Education Services
 provides accredited and licensed childcare for student, staff, and faculty families with young children (aged 3 months to 5 years) at the Children's Centers located on the University campus.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) has counselors who practice holistic academic, financial, and personal counseling and advising. EOP also coordinates the SRB Cultural Resource Centers and the Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP)

Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) provides immigration support for the UCSB community, advising for international students, and cultural programming.

OISS is open Monday-Friday 10am-12pm, 1pm-4pm. Many questions can be answered by visiting our website oiss.sa.ucsb.edu Our student advising team will offer Zoom appointments but we welcome emergency walk-ins to our office.

Undocumented Student Services (USS) coordinates student services, programs, and advocacy for undocumented students and affiliates.

STUDENT LIFE

CARE: Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education  provides professional, confidential advocacy crisis intervention, and support to students, staff, and faculty impacted by sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. CARE also provides primary prevention education in stopping violence before it begins and strives to ensure a University trauma-informed response.

CARE is available 24/7 by calling 805-893-4613 or by visiting our website to make an appointment. CARE is located on the first floor of the Student Resource Building and shares an entrance with the Women's Center. CARE is offering appointments over Zoom and In-person as needed. CARE triages to accommodate same-day appointments, but due to space constraints is requesting all walk-in's or referrals call prior to arriving at CARE.

Career Services educates and empowers all students and recent graduates to prepare for and pursue success.

Drop-In Advising is open M-F from 9am-4pm. Students can request a 1:1 virtual career counseling appointment by logging into Handshake. Students can also email questions to: careerhelp@sa.ucsb.edu. Career Services is located in the Counseling & Career Services Building 599.

Office of Student Conduct (OSC) maintains the integrity of the academic and co-curricular experience for all students through the investigation and adjudication of University policy violations.

MultiCultural Center (MCC) strongly advocates and creates a sense of belonging for marginalized and minoritized students. The Center presents almost 100 events per year ranging from lectures and panel discussions to spoken word events, film screenings and musical performances.

The MCC is located adjacent to Associated Students in the University Center, and we are open from 10am-10pm during the week. To stay up to date with our services, programs, events, and resources, follow us on IG @ucsbmcc and/or visit our Website.

The Non-Traditional Student Resource Center provides resources, programs, and a community space for students whose life experiences differ from traditional students. Students we serve include: undergraduate students who are over 24 years old, graduate students who are over 29 years old, married or partnered students, students with dependents, re-entering students, student veterans, and formerly incarcerated students.

The Non-Traditional Student Resource Center is located on the first floor of the SRB. The Center is staffed approximately 20-25 hours per week. Orientation Programs and Parent Services designs and implements comprehensive student and parent programs that introduce educational, social, and personal resources to facilitate the success of new students.

Orientation is located on the 2nd floor of the SRB (Room 2145). We are open 9am-5pm. Students can also email at orientation@sa.ucsb.edu or call at (805) 893-3443.

Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity (RCSGD) works with students, staff, and faculty to ensure that LGBTQ identities, experiences, and concerns are represented and addressed at UCSB.

Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL/OSL) is the home to registered campus organizations, including fraternities and sororities, and student leadership development programs. Our mission is to serve as an engine of belonging by supporting every student in finding their "home" at UCSB. We do this by encouraging student retention and completion through learning outside of the classroom and leadership development.

SEAL is located within the Student Life Suite on the 2nd floor of the Student Resource Building (SRB). Our shared front desk is open Monday through Friday from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. We have extended hours in our Student Life Resource Center on the first floor of the SRB. We manage and maintain Shoreline and are excited for you to get involved!

Veterans & Military Services supports all veterans, service members, and their families in navigating University, State, and Federal programs and regulations.

The Women's Center is the primary organization on campus dedicated to providing education on women’s issues, feminism, healthy masculinities, and gender and social equity. In addition, we serve as a conduit for many other women’s and social justice organizations, and a site for mentorship and external educational programs. Our space and programs are available to all individuals of all genders interested in understanding how gender shapes our social world, and how we can work to eliminate all forms of gender-based oppression.

STUDENT WELLNESS

The Student Health Alcohol and Drug Program (ADP) provides counseling, education, prevention, and recovery services that meet students where they are, without judgment. ADP utilizes evidence-based, harm-reduction strategies and focuses on reducing high-risk behavior and encouraging personal and community safety and responsibility.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) promotes the emotional well-being of students through individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and stress management services.

CAPS is located in the Counseling & Career Services Building 599. Business & Lobby Hours Monday-Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm. To minimize lobby traffic for the safety of our students and staff, please utilize the Services Request Form or call (805) 893-4411 to schedule an appointment or if you have questions. A mask and a clearance badge are required. During office closures, CAPS phone consultation continues to be available 24/7/365 by calling (805) 893-4411, and selecting number 2 when asked.

Health and Wellness promotes the mental, physical, and social health of all students by enhancing individual skills and positive relationships with families, peers, and the UCSB & Isla Vista community.

Recreation promotes an active, balanced lifestyle among students, staff, and faculty that contributes to the development of the social, emotional, and physical skills essential to long-term health and well-being. Program areas include: Adventure Programs, Aquatics, Certifications & Safety, Esports, Events, Fitness & Wellness, Gaucho R.E.C., Get up GAUCHOS!, Intramurals, Sport Clubs, WorkStrong, and Youth Programs.

Student Mental Health Coordination Services (SMHCS) is a readily accessible single point of contact for individuals concerned about a student in distress.

SMHCS is located on the 2nd floor of the SRB building in the Student Life suite. Students, staff, faculty and community members can refer students in distress via our online reporting form https://www.sa.ucsb.edu/ReferAGaucho. You can also call 805-893-3030 and leave a message on our consultation line for a staff member to respond to within 24-48 hours. SMHCS generally responds to referrals during the same business day and are available between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. SMHCS is prioritizing consultations and appointments via Zoom.

Student Health provides comprehensive and integrated healthcare services that treat illnesses efficiently, promote physical and psychological well-being, and enable students to have a healthy and successful University experience.

ENROLLMENT SERVICES

Admissions coordinates all aspects of undergraduate admission, including year-round outreach, comprehensive application review, and the processing of credit for any student (new and continuing) who completes transferable coursework. The Office of Admissions includes the UCSB Visitor Center and is home to the Guardian Scholars Program, which supports former foster youth.

The Office of Admissions phone lines (805-893-2881) are open M-F, 10am-12pm & 1pm-4pm. Current applicants and enrolled students can communicate with us via email at admissions@sa.ucsb.edu; students should include your full name and PERM number in your email. The Visitor Center is open 9am to 4pm (Pacific Time) on weekdays. Questions about campus tours can be emailed to UCSB4me@sa.ucsb.edu or you can call 805-893-2487. Any questions about applying to UCSB can be sent to UCSB4me@sa.ucsb.edu.

Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) is a pre-college academic preparation program that increases college readiness and financial aid awareness among students and parents from select middle and high schools in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Kern Counties.

Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships assists UCSB students and their families with student financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans, work-study, and Veterans' benefits. 

Most answers can be found on our website or on the financial aid student portal, My Aid Status. For more complex questions, please join our virtual line to request a call-back, to schedule a virtual meeting or to schedule an in-person appointment.

Office of the Registrar maintains the official academic records of all UCSB students and oversees student registration, course scheduling, California residency, graduation, and student transcripts and verification.

OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR

The Stephen S. Goodspeed Intern serves as a liaison between the student body and the Student Affairs administration, chairs the Student Affairs Student Council (SASC), and leads initiatives that contribute to student success.

Student Affairs Grants & Development coordinates charitable giving to UCSB Student Affairs and its numerous member departments and programs, including student scholarships.

Student Information Systems & Technology (SIS&T)  provides information technology and communication services to Student Affairs, Graduate Division, and other campus partners. SIS&T's portfolio includes desktop computing, networks and storage, and more than 170 information systems and websites for faculty, staff, and students (e.g. Gaucho Blue, GOLD).

We don't have direct interaction with students. If any services are needed, please contact our Help Desk, support@sa.ucsb.edu.

STUDENT GOVERNMENTS & PUBLICATIONS

The following student-led programs and services have administrative units within UCSB Student Affairs.

Associated Students (AS) is UCSB's officially recognized undergraduate student government, which operates both as a non-profit organization and a campus department and includes dozens of entities (boards, committees, commissions, and units).

Graduate Students Association (GSA) is UCSB's officially recognized graduate student government.

Storke Student Publications includes the Daily Nexus, a student-run newspaper, and the Senior Book, the official yearbook of the graduating class.

We will be printing weekly editions of the Daily Nexus out on campus and IV every Thursday. We plan to have in-person Senior Portraits in Winter Quarter for the 2022 Senior Book. If any student is interested in working for Storke Student Publications, please email meyer-l@ucsb.edu.
